At CEDA's recent event in Perth, WA Minister for Training and Workforce Development; Water; Industrial Relations, The Hon. Simone McGurk, and a panel of experts dissected the state's water strategies. Delving into milestone projects including the Gnangara Groundwater Allocation Plan, the Aboriginal Community Water Services Program, the Alkimos Desalination Plant, and the second iteration of the Waterwise Perth Action Plan.
The panel discussion, facilitated by GHD Technical Director – Environment, Suzanne Brown, featured the expertise of speakers including Water Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Pat Donovan and Infrastructure WA Chairperson, Nicole Lockwood. Drawing a number of questions from the audience, the conversation focused on the challenges and opportunities ahead — given the compounding effects of climate change — as well as the critical role water security plays in the state's economic future.
