30 Years Since Paul Keating's Redfern Address: Legacy, The Voice And Beyond
CEDA joined a panel of leading First Nations commentators to discuss the significance and legacy of Paul Keating's address and explored how we can finally achieve the vision that then Prime Minister Keating shared at Redfern.
In December 1992, former Prime Minister Paul Keating delivered an address at Redfern Park to launch the International Year of the World’s Indigenous People. The speech has been recognised as one of the most powerful speeches in Australian history and the first recognition by an Australian Government of the impact of European settlement on First Nations peoples.
