The Voice to Parliament, Minister Linda Burney

“The referendum is not about us. It is not about you in some ways. It is about the next generation…if you want a future where everybody has a fair shot in life, Yes makes it possible.” - the Hon. Linda Burney

Just weeks away from the referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament, Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon. Linda Burney took to the CEDA stage to address the WA business community.

The Minister was also joined by panel members: Michael Chaney AO, Chairman, Wesfarmers; Ben Wyatt, Non-Executive Board Director; Danny Gilbert AM, Managing Partner, Gilbert + Tobin and Professor Harlene Hayne, Vice Chancellor, Curtin University, who shared insights on the upcoming Voice from their own unique business and academic perspectives.

Robert French AC, The University of Western Australia, also contributed to the conversation.
“The risks and legal uncertainties that have been raised, are miniscule compared with the chance of a very high return from having a source of coherent national advice in one of the most difficult areas of government we have at the moment.”

The Voice to Parliament referendum will be held on Saturday, 14 October 2023.
