Event overview

Whilst the Philippines is among the fastest growing economies in Asia, trade between Australia and the Philippines only just scrapes into our top 20 trading partners.

However, on the upside, the country is one of Australia’s longest-standing partners with over 70 years of bilateral relations and trade between the two countries is valued at $4.1 billion (2014).  Australian investment in the Philippines is over $9.6 billion, with more than 200 Australian firms operating in the country in engineering, business process outsourcing operations, telecommunications, banking, technical and vocational training and mining.

Significantly, the Philippines is also one of the fastest growing student markets in Australia, with substantial and uninterrupted growth over the last five years. There are now more than 10,000 Filipino students enrolled in universities around Australia.
