EVENT OVERVIEW

Join CEDA and keynote speaker, IBISWorld, Founder and Chairman, Phil Ruthven as he discusses Tasmania's ageing population and demographic change currently taking place in Tasmania.

Tasmania's population has the oldest age structure of all the States and Territories of Australia, and is ageing at a faster rate.

In his lunchtime keynote address, Phil will provide critical insights into how we effectively integrate environmental, social and economic factors to bring about prosperous communities. Decisions made now about where we live and work will be pivotal to the current and future composition of the Australian workforce. Joining Phil is a panel of eminent thought leaders from business, government and academia, bringing new ideas and debate as to the role of these sectors in bringing about a strong and prosperous future for Tasmania.

Securing a strong future for the State requires the proper support for its population - at all stages:

  • Government needs to provide the right policy environment for prosperity;
  • Universities need to provide cutting-edge thought leadership to engage a new generation of workers; and
  • Business needs to evolve alongside, to bring continued investment, opportunity and growth to the State.
