Event overview

This year saw CEDA host more events within our women and leadership series than ever before, along with a strong focus within our broader events and research programs around diversity and inclusion. Within the community and reported just recently, the federal government’s Workplace Gender Equality Agency annual scorecard showed that more Australian companies are taking action to ensure men and women receive equal pay. The full-time gender pay gap is decreasing but women are still earning  $26,527 a year less than men on average.

In this year’s report, the increase in employers prioritising gender equality has seen a stronger level of promotion of women into management positions. While women still make up only 38 per cent of managers, of the promotions into management last year, 43 per cent of positions went to women.  Disappointingly, there has been no notable change over the agency’s reporting period in the gender balance of Australian boardrooms. Men still dominate boards, with female representation at a static 24.9 per cent.

Join us for a more informal review of these and other major issues of 2017, as Jane and Catherine discuss the year as only they can.
