Event overview

The energy market and policy environment in Australia have seen rapid changes. In line with global energy market trends, Australia’s energy system is undergoing a profound transformation, bringing about challenges to the design of energy, climate policies and energy markets.
Tim will discuss energy system transformation and the energy security challenges to be addressed in order to safeguard electricity security as markets transition to a clean energy system.

Associate Professor Tim Nelson
Chief Economist, AGL

Tim leads AGL’s public policy advocacy and their sustainability strategy. In 2015 and 2016 Tim led the development AGL's Affordability Initiative, AGL's revised Greenhouse Gas Policy and Strategy and the Powering Australian Renewables Fund (PARF) concept. He holds energy sector board and advisory positions and has published papers in Australia and international peer-reviewed journals.
