Energy security and sustainability

Oct 4
The Hon. Ian Macfarlane will provide a briefing on the need for policies that attract bipartisan support, ensure energy security and need for long-term investment decisions.

The Hon. Ian Macfarlane, Chief Executive, Queensland Resources Council

Event overview

Australia's electricity market is the longest geographically connected power system in the world.  It generates around 200 terawatt hours of electricity annually which is about 80% of Australia's electricity consumption. The Finkel Review has the potential to dramatically change how Australia will provide future energy supplies that are affordable and sustainable. Ian will provide an insight to policies that can attract bipartisan support, provide energy security across the grid and give business the chance to make long-term investment decisions.
