Even overview

CEDA's Health Policy Perspective brings together thought leaders in the health and policy sectors.

The final report identifies what policy settings have enabled the innovative biomedicine industry to emerge, and what further reforms could enhance it.

CEDA recognises ongoing developments in healthcare are profoundly changing the healthcare landscape. While advances in medicine are significantly improving the capacity to improve health outcomes they are also challenging traditional funding mechanisms. These changes are creating substantive opportunities and challenges.

In this special briefing, report authors and leading commentators will examine appropriate policy settings that will enable Australia to build on its strengths and enhance the health of its people, specifically:

  • Ensuring Australia's comparative advantage in biotechnology;
  • Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) price setting problems and potential improvements;
  • Australia's historical expertise in primary research and what actions are needed to realise these opportunities; and
  • Health landscape overview - encouraging the ongoing development of access to healthcare, systems and governance to achieve high value economic and wellbeing targets in healthcare.
