Australia ranks 7th in international competitiveness survey

Australia's ranking improved in this year's World Competitiveness Yearbook, but results confirm that trade and infrastructure continue to hold back the economy.

Australia’s ranking improved to 7 this year from 12 in 2007 among the 55 countries surveyed.

However, the improvement was marred by low scores for international trade (44th out of 55) and infrastructure (22nd out of 55).

The 2008 World Competitiveness Yearbook is compiled by the international business school IMD from surveys of CEDA member companies and other international partners.
