CEDA has appointed David Edwards as its new State Director for Queensland.
Chief Executive David Byers welcomed the appointment and said David Edwards was exceptionally well-placed to build CEDA’s strong presence in Queensland.
“CEDA has a great history in Queensland and a large and loyal membership base”, he said.
“David’s local knowledge will increase CEDA’s understanding of the policy issues facing business and government in Australia’s fastest growing state.”
David’s background is in Queensland government and public policy, most recently as Chief of Staff for the Leader of the Opposition.
Prior to that he worked on major government projects including Invest Queensland and the Queensland Centenary of Federation campaign. He has held senior positions in the Department of State Development and the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
David said he was delighted to join CEDA. “CEDA’s reputation is unmatched as a national body with insight into the important issues for Queensland’s economic development."
As State Director, David will oversee CEDA’s Queensland membership base and manage the public policy and business events program, as well as being part of CEDA’s national management team.
David’s strong experience is complemented by degrees in arts and economics from the University of Queensland.
David starts at CEDA on 25 March. He succeeds Greg Meek who has been appointed CEO of Brisbane law firm Nicol Robinson Halletts.
CEDA’s recent Queensland-based activity includes a three volume collection, Sustainable Queensland, on managing the state’s rapid growth, and a recent event where Premier Anna Bligh addressed a record crowd of more than 800 people.
