Russell Shields, Queensland Chairman, ANZ Banking Group

One of CEDA's oldest members, ANZ first joined CEDA in 1966.

Russell is ANZ Queensland's national primary trustee and has attended trustee and public events on a diverse range of topics including international relations, agribusiness, energy, higher education and one of CEDA's signature State of the State events.

In his role as Queensland Chairman, he is responsible for assisting in further development, as well as being the central focal point for ANZ, in business, community and government in one of Australia's fastest growing states - Queensland.

Why is ANZ a member of CEDA?

To participate in knowledge sharing and debate around the development of economic activity within the Australian geography and to participate in specific industry discussions around future growth.

What are ANZ's top priorities for the coming year?

  • To grow our business through direct investment into the natural resources, infrastructure and agriculture industries;
  • To provide connectivity between Australian business and global capital markets to facilitate economic activity;
  • To support the flow and trade between Australian business and overseas trading partners especially in the Asia-Pacific region;
  • To support all levels of business to develop and grow; and
  • Be a good community citizen.

Through facilitating discussion through formal events and networking.

The interaction between members/function attendees and the access to high-profile identities from various levels of industry and government.
