David Harrison


David Harrison is a member of CEDA's State Advisory Council in Western Australia.

David oversees the University’s strategic engagement with government at all levels, media engagement, internal communications, public relations and strategic publications such as the University’s flagship magazine. He provides strategic advice and support to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Executive.

David was appointed UWA’s Chief Adviser Corporate and Government Affairs, reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, in August 2012 after a 5 year career with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he served as the General Manager of Advocacy. 

David’s role at UWA was expanded in July 2015 when he was made the Director of Government of Corporate Communications.

Prior to that, David had a nine year career with ABC News as a senior radio and television reporter based in Perth and Sydney, specialising in State and Federal politics.

Prior to joining the ABC as a cadet in 1998, David studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, graduating with an Associate Degree in Broadcasting. David is currently studying his MBA at the University of Western Australia.

David is also a 2011 Graduate of the Leadership WA signature program; a member of the CEDA State Advisory Council’ and a member of the Falls Road Primary School Board.

David is married to Marianne with two children, Will Harrison, born in 2008, and Scarlett, born in 2010. He is a passionate member of the Perth Wildcats and the Fremantle Dockers.
